What comes to mind when you think of Rome? Many think of all the iconic monuments, the history, the food. Sure, these are wonderful but lets travel like a local and visit the San Lorenzo neighborhood just outside of the Sapienza University and check out the street art. In particular and as it was women’s history month I wanted to see the work of Elisa Caracciolo mural that takes up 2-3 blocks. It is of paper cut dolls, woman who have been victims of domestic violence. Its quite profound and moving. My photos do no justice for it. It must be seen. It is on Via dei Sardi.
As you’re in the neighborhood have a stroll around the Sapienza University. I enjoyed the campus and was able to speak to some students who were promoting their TedX channel.
It was a great day traveling as a local in Rome.
