Have you scored a great deal on Icelandair and have a layover at Keflevic airport? Here are some tips to make the most of it and enjoy your time. Traveling is a learning experience in many ways. Always try to find something interesting in it. If something doesn’t work out note it. Repeat the trip at another time perhaps at a different time of the year now that you know.

Note the airport is about an hour from Reykjavík so these tips are best if you are going to have a full day or perhaps and overnight as we did. We opted to take the bus into the city center and walk around which was nice. It’s reminiscent of a small village. However, it is a short trip and the bus is expensive. I would recommend spending a small amount more and renting a car so you can see more than the city center. Our plans were to walk around then go to a locals thermal spa however, they close early so that did not work out. I refused the Blue Lagoon as its an expensive tourist trap and lacks the personality.

As its summer there now its always daylight which is quite interesting but easy to loose track of time. So again a car is best so you can travel the country and stop as you like. Its a natural beauty and outdoor lovers will be in awww as its portrait perfect.

Another tip is even in summer it tends to be on the cool side so have layers or a puffer jacket is perfect. Easy to carry if you are just here on a stop over. Its July and its about 30 C in Spain where I will spend most of my time however a cool 12 here in Keflavic. Big difference. Perfect for the thermal baths though.

I travel as a local and always recommend this to make the most of your trip.

Enjoy your trip! Please comment if you been and what you enjoyed doing.
