Don’t be fooled thinking you may be in Hungary. Hungary lays to the south and as Slovakia was once a part of them you will still find many friendly Hungarians in the southern region.
Bratislava is the capital and a developing city so there are no issues to communicate in English here. The younger generation is bilingual and some trilingual as English and German are the options taught in school.

There’s so much to discover in the Historic center of Kosice. The locals would be happy to show you and provide tips. The town center is walkable with ancient cobble stone streets. Be sure to stop by on Hlavna street around the Kosice State Theater for a coffee, and enjoy the medieval vibes. Continue further down and you’ll arrive at St Elisabeth cathedral, which is a really important piece in Hungarian history and the hidden gem. The largest church in the country and built in the high Gothic style. A must see. Wander through and find many treasures including the crypt of one of the most known figures of Hungarian history, the duke Francis Rakoczi II. He was the leader of the revolution against the Habsburg Monarch in the 18th century.
