Buffalo NY as a local

by Renee Asenguah

Its been a great week in Buffalo and I hope you have been following along. If you have missed any here are the highlights and please go to previous posts to see more.

Highlights- Buffalo is the Queen city of New York. It is about 30 minutes south of Niagara Falls and well worth its own visit. Two great lakes sit here and will invite you to enjoy a hydro bike ride, a kayak or a good old boat ride. Plenty of picnic spots if being by the water is more your thing than being on it. Pick up some wings at the Anchor Bar or a great pizza from Bocce  as a local would for the picnic or pop on over to the city of Tonawanda ( a suburb to the north of Buffalo) and hit up Mississippi Muds for some grilled food and waterside seating. Plenty of area for the kids to run around if they are tagging along. Be sure to get them a custard as its the best and only Buffalo serves a true proper frozen custard. No its not pudding. Another secret is if you drive up the Erie Canal along Creekside you will run into Ellicott Creek Park where there are numerous playground sets. My kids had their favorite and now my granddaughter is trying them out to find hers. There are also grills and tables with shelter.

Do we know how to say scajaquada yet? Remember Coca-cola is pop, not soda here.  Have you tried beef on weck before the custard? Have you visited the Mark Twain room or Naval ships? I’m sure you have had a great time so please comment or ask me any questions so you can travel as a local.
