A short flight over the Atlantic brings you to this beautiful green paradise, Ireland. An Island partly European and part United Kingdom. Rich in history. Virtually transport yourself. what comes to mind when you think of Ireland? For me its pleasant times there, warm jovial people, many are friends, and the vast green fields everywhere. Perhaps its the famous Guinness,Baileys, or Irish Coffee for you. Many of you are thinking corn beef and cabbage as in America that is the celebratory dish to have on St Pattys day. Well you won’t find that in Ireland as that is an American replica of wanting to recreate Irish bacon, as they enjoy with cabbage. What you will find is mouth watering roasts of beef or lamb, shepherds pie, and of course Guinness stew, just to name a few. Lets move away from the amazing food before we all raid the fridge again and think about the Irish dancers. The clogging, the beat is bound to get you going. The outfits that have a long tradition and the girls with their adorable ringlet curls. Are you virtually there yet? I am 🙂
As we continue with this pandemic and to stay safe lets find other ways to celebrate and enjoy this Irish holiday. I will be taking a virtual trip through my photos of our many great trips there and enjoying a meal home with family as well as looking for a video of the dancers.
Before closing I must note, did you know Gaelic is still there national language? Everyone is bilingual in Gaelic as well as English. Its great to try to learn a few words as you wander this great country. Go beyond Dublin and venture through the small towns. Let me know you favorite places you explored.
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
(great lines from an Irish blessing)
Stay safe everyone!
