Happy Canadian Thanksgiving

by Renee Asenguah

Happy Thanksgiving to my neighbors to the north. Today is a great day to be in Canada to celebrate this special day with the locals. As with most holidays its all about the food. Food is culture and a great way to savor the palate and nourish all your senses. Immerse in all the sights the sounds, the aroma and all the traditions. Canadians are very friendly and happy to share.

It may have started with the early settlers giving thanks for their safe arrival to their new world but it has progressed to be thankful overall and to enjoy the autumn harvest.

Turkey and all the autumn veggies are usually the menu. Canada will turn it up a notch from an American Thanksgiving by adding their touches of maple syrup and bacon. Below are some recipes to try, thanks Food Network. However, if you find Lemon-Sage Butter Roasted Turkeyyourself in Canada you must join in and enjoy a meal with the locals. Don’t have a friends house to pop over to, well if you are in Toronto head over to Marche on Young & Front by the Hockey Hall of Fame and enjoy. This restaurant is a food experience in itself anytime of the year and 1 of my favorites.

Caramelized Brussels Sprouts and Bacon

Until next time as the Italians would say mangiare mangiare 🙂

(Fun Fact- Toronto is said to be the most cosmopolitan city in the world) I have been fortune enough to work with their international community and I believe it and its an amazing experience 🙂
